Marselino Torres personifies health and fitness, not only does he preach a healthily lifestyle; he lives it. Marselino, or Mars as he is more commonly known, has been an endurance athlete his whole life. Growing up in the Texas panhandle town of Memphis, Mars started working in the cotton fields at the early age of eight years old. He enjoyed working in the cotton fields and playing in the creek beds of Memphis virtually from sun up to sun down.

Excelling at the 800, 1600, and 3200 meters in Junior High and High School track, Mars knew he was born to run. In 1996 after high school he took a hiatus from the health lifestyle, but soon found his way back to running. " I did some serious soul searching right after high school, but in the end I found the magic number 26.2! " Mars ran the Great Southwest Marathon in Abilene, TX in March 2001 with practically no training and no nutrition plan and placed finished 2nd in his age group with a time of 3 hours 52 minutes and a painful ride home. Mars vowed to prepare with proper nutrition and training for the next endurance challenge he was to face. Since that first marathon, Mars has competed in four marathons, a dozen triathlons, several mountain bike and road cycling races, and a sprint adventure race. " I am constantly pushing my body to its physical limits, and it still amazes me how the mind takes over when the body gives out. " Mars is currently training for the Palo Duro 50 Miler in October 2006.

Mars is currently living in San Angelo, TX where he attends Angelo State University. He is studying to be a physical therapist with a focus in sports and exercise science. He will aid the team with nutritional advice, and strength and conditioning for this kayak adventure. " I am excited to be a part of such a courageous group of guys. Louis and his team should be an inspiration to all of us."
